EKU Day of Marching Percussion

Recommended Posts

The EKU Percussion Society is proud to announce information for the 2010 Day of Marching Percussion!

This is the second year we’ve hosted this event and are excited about what in store for this year. Tim Jackson, Battery Coordinator for the Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps and Caption Head and Arranger for the Rhythm X Independent World Indoor Ensemble, will be our Guest Clinician and Instructor for the day. Joining him will be members of the Eastern Kentucky University Percussion Society to lead a day of playing and learning about Percussion in the marching idiom. Their experience includes; The Cavaliers, Bluecoats, Blue Stars, Glassmen, Madison Scouts, The Colts, Capital Regiment, The Magic, Rhythm X, Redline Percussion, and offers first class instruction on Rudimental Snare drum, Tenors, Bass drum, and 2/4 mallet instruments.

The Clinic will take place in the Foster Music Building, on EKU’s Campus, Saturday, May 1, from 8am to 5pm. Members will be learning about technique and quality of sound on their instrument, as well as learning several exercises and pieces that will be played in a full ensemble setting. Our goal is to share our knowledge of this style of music, and give students a chance to play in a larger setting, with students from all over the area. This is open to students of all levels and experience, age 14-21. The event will conclude with a showcase for parents and guests from 5-6pm. Here, we will present what each section has learned for the day and they will perform several selections of music.
