I guess it would depend on what David Centers and the students would want to do with the program.

If I had to guess, I would say 'No'. Not this year, at least. Waaaay too much planning and development would have to have been put in place already for marching season.

Big transition starting a new band program at a new school. And the director will probably still be involved in the transfer of his old band into their new season/new director for a while.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out in future years, however.

I have been doing auditions at Central hardin for percussion the past few weeks and have spoken to Centers. There are no future plans to field a competitive band at GCHS. The community is very used to non-competitive marching considering Scott Co. has around 280 in their band and have been non- competitive since the early 90's.

Can confirm. There will be no competitive marching band.

What would be the point? It isn't like the majority of the group had been in such group in the past.

Why?  Because Scott County doesn't?

Reason's why they can be in the hunt next year, Ronald Reagan, Weiss, Vandergrift, Kennesaw Mountain.  It can happen!

As long as Centers is there, there will not be a competitive marching band.

Also have to consider those kids have been in Scott County's program. They're not used to competitive marching band and might not want to switch to it.

Or maybe they would like to experience the thrill of competition.
