Also, I heard back at KMEA that the chances of Henry Clay coming back were “extremely high”

I will go on record right now as saying do not believe this.

I will freely admit things can change, but in the winter, there was some confidence that HC was coming back. You might have more up to date info than me.

He has been dead since 1852.  I guess anything is possible, but I just can't see it happening.  Especially with that sweet monument he has going for him in Lexington Cemetery.

He's in a cryogenics lab along with Walt Disney. (Just think of the MANY trips to the ice house before modern freezers). His instructions were to revive him once we took 6 bands to finals.

Not coming for you or anything but I do find it interesting that you have Russell Ind over Murray and just curious about what makes you think that.

just better visuals, yes they weren't better in music but their visuals were better in my opinion but i feel like murray could get 2nd if they worked harder on visuals.

I agree. Russell Independent has my favorite visual performance of any small band in Kentucky. It all just looks so expressive and lively. Very drum corp esque. Helps that their drill is really amazing too.

I’m withholding my predictions for overall because I honestly expect a little shakeup. Top 6 making it versus top 4 will push a LOT of groups further, imo. Plus, bands who normally begin their regular rehearsals including music in May and come in to camp with the opener memorized are going to be set back a bit by this whole corona thing. And EVERYONE’S gonna have to play a lot of catchup because I’m willing to bet most all kids are taking a 4 month playing break right now. So I’m expecting early season to be a little different than we’re used to, so I’ll wait till then to think about finals.

Hancock doesn't make top 6 if they stay in 1A? Okay...if you think so.

I have a lurking suspicion that we will see so many new faces in finals this year. Not just because of the 6 bands inclusion but also because of cancelled seasons and the shifting of classes again. With the new hybrid system and the situation created by COVID I believe many bands will lack in numbers making lower classes more competitive than ever. I believe that 2A and 3A will become the two most complex classes to watch this season, honestly  even 1A will probably become even more stacked.

Take these with a grain of salt, I know it's still early and some bands haven't even announced their shows:

Class A:

1) COVID-19

2) SARS-CoV-2

3) Coronavirus

4) Seasonal Flu

Class AA:

1) SARS-CoV-2

2) COVID-19

3) Acid Reflux

4) Coronavirus

Class AAA:

1) Coronavirus

2) SARS-CoV-2

3) COVID-19

4) Mask-Induced Asphyxiation

Class AAAA:

1)  COVID-19

2)  Coronavirus

3)  SARS-CoV-2

4)  Hemorrhoids

Class AAAAA:

1)  Lafayette

2)  COVID-19

3)  Coronavirus

4 )  H1N1

I left out the fifth and sixth place bands in each class.  Not meant as a slight, just pressed for time.

If it gets itself together in time I believe the Bubonic Plague , which has reemerged,  may just make finals this year surprising everyone and being the only thing capable of taking down Lafayette 😂

Does H5N1 still compete? They last made finals back in 07 with their Flock of Seagulls show. Loved that one!

You were correct to do so, especially with these new wonky, jacked-up “hybrid” classes (that no one else in the country does). Can you tell I think it’s an atrocious idea that should have been left for dead w the 6-6 tie?

And you watch......I bet those that pushed for it will either still not participate this season, or decide to go “non-competitive.”

Maybe.

Possibly.

Probably.

More than likely.

I'll leave it to you to figure out who's who.

Murder Hornets were supposed to compete this year, but they cancelled at the last minute.  Too bad.

I was literally sitting here trying to think of what school’s mascot was the Murder Hornets... I think it’s time for me to go to bed

Magoffin County HS are Hornets. Middlesboro HS are Yellow Jackets. That’s the closest I can come up with off the top of my head.

SMBC cancelled. Gotta love directors who voted against their districts. There were a couple who did so, and one of them are over my district. Pretty much a big screw you to those bands.
