I hope AAA isn't at Meade County again. It's just too far from Papa John's.

37.6 miles, according to google maps. It says 50 minutes, but on the day of SMBC, it's more like 60-75 minutes depending on when exactly you're transiting.

I personally love South Oldam. They have a great school, a great field, and just an all around great compition area. 4A should keep it at south oldam for years.

Meade is way too far, agreements there. But they don't have many more schools near papa johns that are big enough to host a comp. It's tough finding a school that wants to take on the challenge of semis. Meade should be thanked for all the work they've done for the semi's, even though they are far away.

Could Eastern perhaps be a contender for the AAA spot? Since it's in Middletown, it wouldn't take terribly long to drive to PJCS.

All I know... is that I hope and pray that it isn't PRP for Class AA again... it was absolutely horrible in 2008 when I was at M. South. Buses were broken into and lots of things went missing, not to mention terrible field condition... The judge's box is way to close to ground level and according to a judge, fan's interfer with the music.

So, I hope PRP isn't included in the challenger's list.

Agreed on both counts. I went to South Oldham's competition last year and, other than the tremendous hill you have to climb, the venue and field are nearly impeccable. Also, despite the bad rap they get because of distance, everything else concerning Meade is solid gold.

It's too bad they can't get Male to host. I think that would fix most of the problems. Also, how big is CAL's stadium? Could it be a bit small for hosting a competition, even if it is AA? I've never been there.

I've never been in CAL's stadium, but you can see it from the Gene Snyder Freeway. It looks large enough to host AA semifinals.

Well, back in 2008 at State Semi-Finals. We were standing on the field waiting for the announcements of who made it and CAL's director was there talking about how they had planned on trying to host. He said that it had all the capabilities that PRP had plus some. A brand new field, large stands. He was really bragging about it, so I hope it is.

CAL is good enough, I'm suprised I didn't think of that. And I'm suprised that kmea hasn't thought of it either.

I think AAA Semi's were at Eastern a few years back when I was in band. Maybe 2007? I always loved playing there. I don't really mind driving from Meade Co. though. They've always done a great job hosting the past few years, but I understand why some people would rather it be in Louisville.

I didn't think Meade was all that bad, contrary to what most people who competed in AAA the past two years think. The only problems we had getting back and forth was because our bus drivers both years sucked and got lost. Dumb charter bus company.

was it that bad? lol. I remember back in 2007 when class 2A was like right down the road and the traffic was like backed up for miles and we almost didn't get there in time to rehearse.

I haven't ever been to Meade so i wouldn't know.

I haven't either. But I had the choice between the long drive or going to 5A Semi-finals and already being there.
Easy choice.

true... I'll settle with that though lol. Better then having to reload both of our tractor & trailors and all of the hassle that is involved in moving from place to place.

According to this page on KMEA's website, the semifinals locations will be as follows:

A: Butler High School (I'm assuming they mean Butler Traditional)
AA: Christian Academy of Louisville
AAA: Meade County High School
AAAA: South Oldham High School
AAAAA: Papa John's Cardinal Stadium
