So, I've decided to start up a new video thread. This thread will be the home of atleast one video from each marching band from every season starting now. I will possibly go back a few years and add them to this list. I'm even doing the inactive bands. I'm going to find as many videos as i can of those schools that have closed or merged. I think this thread is a good idea and i think it will help make finding videos much easier. I hope you all enjoy its convenience.

A special thanks goes out to Kyband.com for its history pages. I found the Active/Unactive list there. Also, thanks to all of you who have recorded videos through the years. I always enjoy them. Thanks again.

If you'd like to assist the finding of old videos please PM me any that you may find. I've gotten several that way and its a lot easier on me.
Also, If you'd like an out of state band listed here, I'll do that by request only and only if you have the links to provide.

I really hope that you guys enjoy this thread, and I'd like to thank you for helping me gather these videos. There is still plenty of gaps to fill.

It says it's 1997. I don't know, though, because I never saw it in real life.

You need to add Pineville High School to the list of active groups.

Oh, that was definitely 1997. Saw it live at FOC and at Finals.

In some ways, yes. Music is exceptional, particularly given that it was a chilly night. Visually, I think they're a great example of changing priorities in the activity. Drill is clean, feet are impeccable... But upper body carriage is not good by today's standards, and there is almost no demand placed on the musicians visually other than straight drill: no body, no role playing, etc. If you watch the drum feature, there's a spot where the camera hangs out on the tenors for several seconds waiting for them to do something interesting... and they just stand there, which is all that was expected of them at the time. WGI percussion had not yet shown us all of the interesting things that drummers can do, or at any rate we weren't yet paying attention. Guard integration is another place that today they would get majorly keyed on: the vast majority of the time, simply framing the band.

Now, don't get me wrong: I loved this show then and I still consider E-town 1997 one of the finest shows ever put on in the Commonwealth. But how interesting to compare the greatest band of that era with the shifting priorities of our own.
